Peter H. Wood is an emeritus professor at Duke University and a co-author of the US History textbook, Created Equal. He has written two books on early African American history (Black Majority, and Strange New Land) and several books on black images in the work of the great American artist Winslow Homer. Wood now lives in Colorado, where he is working with K-12 teachers to introduce more African American history into the in Boulder Valley School District. He recently conducted four all-day public workshops entitled “Slavery Matters.”
