Scott Longert is a lifelong resident of the Cleveland, Ohio area. He has a B.A. from The Ohio State University and M.A. in American History from Cleveland State University. He worked many years for the Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland and then as a Park Ranger for the National Park Service at James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Mentor, Ohio.
